Xpannd™ is dedicated to highly decorated labels in the wine, oil, spirits, cosmetics and food sectors. Its integrated system offers multi-process printing possibilities, allowing in-line hot stamping, silkscreen printing, cold foil, embossing and extremely precise die-cutting.
The Xpannd™ offset head uses the traditional, proven and cost-efficient wet-offset technology on a specifically designed and robust print unit. The Xpannd™ print unit includes four servo motors and a set of water-cooled ink trains used to stabilize the press printing consistency. Prior to printing, an automatic procedure brings ink and water into optimal balance on the plate to reduce waste during the start and stop operations. The inking and dampening systems are controlled by servo motors and adjusted to the speed and the substrate to achieve accurate control on ink density.
The minimum set-up speed of 12 m/min (40 ft/min) is obtained through accurate control of the ink-water balance to achieve minimal set-up waste. The low set-up speed allows multiple process combinations with offset for specific processes like hot stamping, cold foil, embossing or screen.
A PC interface permits almost unlimited data storage of each parameter for 'digital' job data reproduction. The keys of the ink fountains are remotely controlled and data can be stored and recalled on the main PC interface. In the case of a new job, the ink fountains are automatically pre-adjusted, according to the file to be printed.
High-Offset Technology Xpannd™ High-Offset technology improves the printing density by transporting higher quantities of ink. It drastically reduces the "ghosting" phenomenon offering the label printer a sharp and accurate printing performance and introduces new temperature, inking and dampening controls to decrease wastage at start-up.
